Davos 2023: How to follow
The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos returns to its traditional January slot for 2023, having taken place in May last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’ll run from the 16th to the 20th of January, with much of the discussion and deliberation publicly available on multiple digital platforms.
The backdrop this year is a challenging one – growth is slowing in the world’s largest economies, while inflation is escalating in many countries. Meanwhile, the entire world is challenged by the climate crisis.
It’s the 53rd Annual Meeting for Forum – and it is pledging to “drive tangible, system-positive change for the long term… The basic tenet of the programme is the premise that the current crises, as serious as they are, are manifestations of larger systemic deficiencies accrued over time.”
This year’s programme will attempt to find new approaches to tackle challenges including the energy and food crisis; the high-inflation, low-growth, high-debt economy; social vulnerabilities in the context of a new system for work, skills and care; alongside the wider geopolitical risks the world is facing.
There’ll also be a special workstream across these themes dedicated to leadership.
What will participants be talking about at Davos 2023?
This year’s meeting comes at a critical juncture for the global community, as the world grapples with these multiple, interlinked crises, from the cost of living to biodiversity and climate change.
Speakers will include leaders from across the spheres of politics, civil society, business, academia and beyond.
